Central Air Conditioning Systems

Frequently asked questions

If your home already has ductwork, central air is the cleanest way to cool the whole house from one system — and replacing a 15-year-old unit can cut cooling bills by a third. TJM Climate Control installs and replaces central AC and ducted heat pump systems across Southern New Hampshire.

Installation & replacement

We replace aging condensers and air handlers, install complete new systems, and — where it makes sense — recommend a ducted heat pump instead of a cooling-only AC, so the same equipment heats in winter and qualifies for NHSaves rebates. Every install starts with a load calculation; an oversized AC cools fast but leaves the house clammy because it never runs long enough to dehumidify.

What it costs

A central AC replacement (condenser + coil) typically runs [Input-range]. Full system installs with air handler run [input-range]. Exact quotes are free and itemized.

Refrigerant note for 2026

New systems now use R-32 or R-454B refrigerants. If your current system uses R-410A, repairs will get more expensive as that refrigerant is phased down — a factor worth weighing in any repair-vs-replace decision.
